We are saddened today because our great dog, Bubba, died early this morning. He has gone through several spurts of not being well, but has always bounced back. The kids say he didn't like Colorado, but he had been having issues back in Florida also. I haven't been able to take him on a jog with me for almost a year because he just couldn't do it. Something was going on inside, it seems like he may have had a few strokes, maybe a tumor. Who knows.......all we know is that we will miss him. He was a great dog. We got him from the Pet Welfare Center at Eglin AFB, not sure how old he was then, but he fit right into our family. He was great with the kids, never bit at them. He was a great running partner. He loved the sound of the leash and the words "Let's Go." He was a great companion during the days when the kids were all gone. He would follow me everywhere. He would join our family for prayer at night, often being the most reverent one! He loved to jump and chase after a ball. He loved to bark whenever the doorbell rang and wouldn't stop until he had sufficient time to smell the newcomer or get the attention he needed from them. He was great at keeping my floors clean. He loved to lay on the couch or the bean bag. If you started to pet him, he would ensure that you didn't ever stop by nudging your hand with his nose. What a great dog. I often thought of Bubba and the way that he loved me/our family unconditionally and that I needed to be like that. He was a great example of that and I will always be grateful for the love he has shown to me.
