2008 Christmas Letter

Merry Christmas!!!

Here is our list of happenings this year:

Elyse

walking, talking, drawing on paper, drawing on herself, singing along with her siblings to the chorus CD's, reading books, climbing on everything, running laps around the house, having lots of funny expressions on her face, walking Bubba, napping (yeah!), crying, laughing, growling (her new method of getting our attention)

Sam

going to preschool, learning all the letters, singing, riding his bike, yelling, calling names, sitting in time-out, jumping on the trampoline, knowing all the words to Mara's chorus CD's before she does, helping mom cook, calling mom "sweetie pie," going to gymnastics, playing with trucks

Ben

going to 1st grade, learning lots of "boy" talk, playing baseball (he gave it a thumbs down), playing soccer (thumbs up), playing the piano, building pretend electronic toys, reading, talking about girls TOO much, showing some stubborness, showing lots of love

Mara

going to 5th grade, learning the flute, playing the violin, singing in chorus, going to academic team, playing soccer, calling friends on the phone (oh no - here we go!), being sassy, being sweet, acting like the older sister, taking pictures on her camera, wanting to babysit, learning about success and failure, growing up

Becky

going crazy, going crazy, going crazy (o.k., just a little), singing with Okaloosa Chamber singers, reading to Ben's class at school, reading to Sam's class at preschool, reading to Elyse at home, conducting the choir at church, teaching Ben piano, not being smarter than a 5th grader at times, cooking, trying to change the volume of sweets and unhealthy food in the house, jogging, cleaning way too much, doing laundry way too much, being happy, being sad, enjoying her children on their good days

Keyan

working, becoming a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, moonlighting and enjoying a non-military surgery experience, tickling children, going to lots of Surgery conferences, working hard at church, taking Becky to Mexico without
kids(!), helping take out the garbage (once or twice), cleaning the bathrooms (once?), being a great cheerleader for each one in our family, being one to lighten the mood up at home

We have had a great year and have enjoyed going lots of fun places. We hope this next year will bring more of the same (minus the time when Keyan will once again be in Iraq)!

Merry Christmas to all our family and friends!

Fun letter! When is Keyan going to Iraq again? It looks like we're headed to Alabama for SAASS. Will you be in CO again anytime soon?

So fun to get your Christmas photo in the mail! Sounds like you guys are doing great! I'm running behind this Christmas due to just getting home from my 4 1/2 mos. in Germany. But will hopefully get out New Year's cards! Merry Christmas! :) Brooke

Merry Christmas Rileys! We finally figured out how to get to your blog (hooray)! We just had Mom and Dad up for Nick's graduation. It was good to see them. Nick is now an official DC and we are off to join the real world of working adults! We head out for Reno come January. I keep telling Nick we need to schedule some Florida sun into our yearly calendar, but he thinks Reno is sunny enough (boo I say. Reno doesn't have Disneyworld). Your children are beautiful!!! Can't wait to see them and meet little Elyse! Hope its sooner than later. Merry Christmas! We love you!
