Sam's baseball and 1st grade Field Day

Baseball season didn't start out well for Sam...he refused to go to practices and I had to call in reinforcements to get him to go (Dad)!  The soft mom I was, I was willing to not make him play baseball, but Dad knew this would be good for him and was willing to endure through the fits and tears.  Sam is the youngest on his team, with there being some 3rd graders on it that have played for many years....this is only Sam's 2nd year.  So, it was a bit intimidating, as were his coaches who were serious and expected the boys to work and to listen.....not in a mean way, just in a good coach sort of way.  Anyhow, Sam now loves to wear his baseball jersey to school on the day of a game and he has really responded well to the coaching he has received.  As Keyan says, "it's just what he needs."  Yes, dear, you are right (and he is) :)

The end of year field day ritual for Sam........
This looks a bit like basic training, doesn't it?

Balance and speed were apparent in the potato sack race!

How many lei's can Mrs. Ray hold?

On your mark, get set, go!

This is one race in which you don't want the water balloon to burst!

The leaky pail race.........a nice cool finish on a hot day!

I guess the girl in front of Sam decided to cool Sam off all at once!

Sam's response to the drenching........

Sam's teacher had these kids in line....they pulled hard just for her!
