Mara just finished up the final performance of Les Miserables at her high school. She was cast as the Bishop's Servant and a beggar (we are so glad she wasn't a prostitute:). We have learned that there is a definite seniority thing here for getting the big parts. Well, we all have to start somewhere, right? She also had to be involved in the set building and all the scene changes. There is no doubt that she learned a lot. She complained about rehearsals for the last 4 months and wanted to quit, but once the show started, she suddenly loved being in it....funny how that works! It was an amazing amount of rehearsal time, but the show was amazing. I guess you have to have one in order to have the other!
Mara's friend, Leslie, made the rehearsals bearable. She was probably a big reason for keeping Mara "in the game."
Mara couldn't have been in a better show to begin her theater experience. We have all been singing songs from the show nonstop. Next month, we will take Mara and Ben up to Denver to see the Broadway touring group perform the show. We are all super excited for that!
Mara even got her picture in the paper......wow!
